What We Believe

1. The Bible

The Bible in its original documents is the inspired Word of God, the written record of his supernatural revelation of His self to man, absolute in its authority, complete in its revelation, final in its content and without any error in its statements. We support and encourage the use of the King James and the New King James Bibles in both our adult and children’s public English ministries.

Psalms 89:34; Matthew 24:35; 2Timothy 3:16; 2Peter 1:19-21; Revelation 22:18-19

2. God

We believe in one Triune God, the living and true God, the Creator and Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth, eternally existing in three persons, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, each co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, having the same attributes and perfections and executing distinct but harmonious offices.

Genesis 1:1-2; Deuteronomy 6:4; 33:27; Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 3:16-17; 28:19; Mark 12:29; John 4:24; 5:23; 5:26; 2Corinthians 13:14

3. Jesus Christ

The Lord Jesus Christ is the second person of the God-head. He is co-existent, co-equal and co-eternal with God the Father. He is fully God who took on flesh, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin and dwelt on earth. He was sinlessly perfect and gave Himself as a substitutionary sacrifice by shedding His blood and dying on the tree. He then came back from the dead. This was to pay for all sins (past, present and future) for all who believe.

Matthew 1:20-23; Luke 1:34-35; Acts 13:38-41; 2Corinthians 5:21; Titus 2:14; Hebrews 2:9; 5:7-8; 9:12-28; 10:10-13; 1Peter 2:24; 1John 3:5

4. Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is a divine person; equal with God the Father and God the Son and of the same nature; He was active in the creation; in His relation to the unbelieving world He convicts of sin, of righteousness and of judgment; He bears witness to the truth of the Gospel in preaching and testimony; He is the agent in the New Birth; He seals, endues with power, guides into all truth, teaches, witnesses to our salvation, sanctifies and helps the believer.

Genesis 1:1-3; Matthew 28:19; Luke 1:35; John 3:5-6; 14:16-17, 26; 16:7-14; Acts 5;30-32; Romans 8:14-16; Hebrews 9:14

5. Man

The Genesis account of Creation tells us man was created in God’s image and was free of sin but in Adam’s sinning the whole human race fell thereby incurring not only physical death but also spiritual death which is separation from God. All humans are born with a sinful nature and to die in this condition is to be dammed forever without hope.

Genesis 3:1-24; 5:5; Romans 3:23; 5:12; Ephesians 2:3; 2Thessalonians 1:8-9; Revelations 20:15

6. Salvation

For man to be reconciled to God salvation is necessary. Man is saved by grace through faith and nothing of man enters into his salvation. It is a free gift. Man’s efforts, regardless how good or well intended are of no effect. Salvation is by the finished work of Christ. Regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for salvation. The moment a person receives Christ as his Saviour, immediately the Holy Spirit indwells the believer who is sealed until the Day of Redemption. This salvation is eternally secure being justified by faith, sanctified by God and sealed by the Holy Spirit. So a true child of God has two births: one of the flesh, the other of the Spirit. By this supernatural birth of the Holy Spirit man is a new creation in Christ Jesus and thereby has become a child of God.

John 1:12, 10:28-29; Romans 3:24-26, 5:6; 6:23; 10:9-10; 1Corinthians 15:1-3; Galatians 2:16; Ephesians 1:7; 13-14; 2:1-2; Philippians 1:6; Jude 1

7. The Resurrection

Christ arose bodily and there will be a resurrection of the saved and of the lost: the saved unto eternal life and of the lost unto eternal, conscious punishment in hell, eternally separated from God.

Matthew 25:41; 1 Corinthians 15:4; 2Corinthians 5:8; 1Thessalonians 4:13-18; 2Peter 2:9; 1John 3:2; Revelation 20:11-15

8. The Advent of Christ

We believe in the personal return of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ; His return in the air for the Church and His return to the earth to set up His kingdom.

Isaiah 26:19-21; Matthew 25:31-34; Acts 1:11; 1Thessalonians 1:10; 4:14-18; Titus 2:13; Revelation1:7; 19:1-20

9. Satan

The reality and the personality of Satan (the Devil) is recorded in God’s Word. He is a fallen angel and along with his followers is an adversary to God, His Word and to all believers. He and his followers are destined to eternal punishment in the lake of fire. Satan and his demons cannot inhabit the body of born-again believers because God’s Holy Spirit is already dwelling there at the point of regeneration.

Isaiah 14:12-15; Matthew 4:11; 25:41; John 14:17; 1Corinthians 6:19; Colossians 1:13; 1John 4:13; Revelation 20:1-3, 10

10. Tongues, Supernatural Healing

The apostles were given the gift of speaking in tongues and supernatural healing by the Holy Spirit to demonstrate God’s wisdom, purpose and power for the establishment of the early church. The gift of tongues was always in a language that was in use at that time.

God still miraculously heals today when it is His perfect will to do so. The apostle’s gift of healing was specific to their ministry. God’s will, at times is for sickness not to be healed. One cannot claim God’s healing just because one is a Christian. Physical healing will be culminated in the redemption of our bodies.

Mark 16:17-20; Acts 2:6; 8; Romans 8:22-23; 1Corinthians 13:8; 14:21-22; 2Corinthians 12:7-12; 2Timothy 4:20; James 5:14-16

11. Evangelism

It is every Christian’s privilege and duty to make clear God’s plan of salvation, if at all possible, wherever and in whatever vocation he or she may be.

Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15; John 20:21; Acts 1:8; 8:4; 13:1-5; Romans 10:13-15

12. Priesthood of the Believer

We believe in the priesthood of all believers. Christ is our great High Priest and through Him every born again person has direct access into God’s presence without the need of a human priest. The believer has the right and the responsibility to personally study and interpret the Scriptures in the light of the Scriptures, guided by the Holy Spirit.

Hebrews 4:14-16; 1Timothy 2:5; 2Timothy 2:15; 1John 2:27; Revelation 1:6

13. The Church

a) The Lord Jesus Christ and He alone is the Head of the Body of Christ, into which all believers are immediately baptised at the time of salvation by the Holy Spirit; that all members of this one spiritual body have the right to assemble and identify themselves together in local churches where possible.

Acts 1:4-5; 2:36; 1Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 1:22-23; 5:23; Colossians 1:18; Hebrews 3:13; 10:24-25

b) The local church shall have its own autonomy and independence and no religious hierarchy has any Scriptural grounds to dictate and run affairs of any local church.

Acts 13:1-3

c) The Bible teaches a clear separation of Church and state with each having a definite and distinct sphere of responsibility.

Matthew 22:17-21; John 18:36-37; Romans 13:1-7; 1Timothy 2:1-2; 1Peter 2:13-17

14. Baptism & The Lord’s Supper

We believe the ordinances given to the local church are two; Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism is by full immersion of believers, thus portraying the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord’s Supper is the partaking of the bread and cup by believers as a continuing memorial of the broken body and shed blood of Christ, until He returns.

Matthew 26:26-29; 28:19-20; Mark 14:22-25; Luke 22:15-20; Acts 2:41; Romans 6:3-4; 1Corinthians 11:2, 23-26; Colossians 2:12

15. Heaven and Hell

Heaven and Hell are actual, literal places and all men will spend eternity in one of these two places. All those who die without Christ will enter into everlasting, conscious punishment in Hell, the Lake of Fire prepared by God for Satan and his angels. Those who are saved by Christ shall abide forever enjoying God’s presence in the blessedness of Heaven prepared by God for Christ’s bride.

Psalm 9:17; Matthew 18:9; 25:41; Luke 16:22-23; John 14:1-3; 2Corinthians 5:1-8; 1Peter 1:3-5; Revelation 20:14-15; 21:1-5; 22:1-5
